MyJohnDeere in Sirrus Mobile

We currently have two options for wirelessly exporting recommendations in Sirrus Mobile, one of which is via MyJohnDeere. The MyJohnDeere wireless export can be used for any crop protection, fertilizer or planting recommendation. Note that only product recommendations can be sent through Wireless Export, any nutrient recommendations will not have the option to export wirelessly.

Connecting to MyJohnDeere in Sirrus Mobile

To add your MyJD credentials to the mobile app, go into Sirrus Mobile settings, Setup, choose MyJohnDeere and the user will be prompted to enter their MyJohnDeere credentials.

Once logged in, your device will be setup to export recommendations to MyJohnDeere. A user is able to click into the MyJohnDeere option again in the mobile settings to view which account they are logged into, if such action is needed.

Exporting Recommendations to MyJohnDeere

To export recommendations to MyJohnDeere, a user may begin from the home screen of the app and view all recs or minimize the search criteria by going to a specific grower, farm or field level then viewing recommendations.

Use the Issued Recommendations tile to choose a Pending, Accepted or Rejected Rec and once viewing the rec, select the three dots in the upper right corner, choose “Send”, Wireless Export, MyJohnDeere, choose recommendation type (field recommendations contains all recommendations on the field in the set season, fertility and planting recs will sort only specific types) hit Next, then click to check mark which Organization to send files to, hit Send, and the recommendation will be on its way to MyJohnDeere. The recommendation will say “Sending” for a few moments then revert to the home screen of Sirrus Mobile once it has successfully sent.

Exporting Data: Data Bullet

The Data Bullet is a quick way to send data from one agX account to another agX account. When sending a data bullet in Sirrus Mobile, users will need to have the recipient’s name, the email address tied to that agX account and the sync ID. The sender of the Data Bullet can choose to send only the field boundary, or an event which will also include the field boundary. When sending an event, the sender has the option to transfer administrative (admin) rights along with the Data Bullet to the recipient account.

Editor's Note: To export saved data (surface layer, job, recommendation, etc.) from a Sirrus account, you must be the admin (or owner) of the data being transferred.

To send a data bullet in Sirrus Mobile, users can go to the Jobs tile and select the export button (the export button is a square with an up arrow) in the upper right-hand corner. Next, the user will choose Data Bullet, then enter the info for the new contact or select a previously created contact to send the data to.

Lastly, the sender will choose what data to send and if they would like to transfer admin rights when sending, then hit “Send” in the right-hand corner of the page.

The Data Bullet will normally take 5-10 minutes to process on the server, then the recipient will need to sync to see the changes in their agX account.

Exporting Data: Shapefile

The Shapefile format is a geospatial vector data format for geographic information system (GIS) software, which tie data to a point in the world geospatially. When working with Shapefiles, it is important to know that it takes three files (.shp, .shx, .dbf) to make up a Shapefile. Some users also need a projection (.prj) file, and that can also be obtained when exporting a shapefile by going into the Sirrus Mobile settings and turning the toggle on for “Include PRJ with SHP”. The .prj file is only needed for users who plan to import the Shapefile into a system that requires the .prj file.

Exporting a shapefile

To send a Shapefile in Sirrus Mobile, with a field selected, users can go to the Jobs tile and select the export button in the upper right-hand corner. Next, the user will choose Shapefile, then decide whether they want the exported file to be zipped or unzipped.

Tool Tip: We recommend zipped, but this option is user preference.

The user can then choose to export only the field boundary and/or management zones, or any sampling, scouting, fertilizer, crop protection or planting operation made in the mobile app. At the top of the export page, you will have the option to name your zip file before exporting. Once field boundaries or operations are chosen, hit the export button to send the Shapefile from your mobile device.

Note: If an operation is exported via Shapefile, the field boundary will automatically be included in the export.

Why a shapefile?

The shapefile option can be used to export multiple field boundaries or operations at once. To grab more than one field at a time, begin the steps above from the grower or farm level to export more than one field’s data at a time.

Note: Remember, for a shapefile to work the user must have the .shp, .shx and .dbf to import the shapefile anywhere else.

Have a great day!!
