You may have heard mentions of agX in previous articles, webinars, trainings or the e-learning courses you have participated in. This article will provide an explanation about what agX is, how it works and the basics around establishing an agX connection.

What is agX?

agX is a database that is specific to the Ag Industry, developed by Proagrica and provides geospatial infrastructure for the exchange of data between digital ag platforms, products and services.

A key component of agX is the consistency and standardization of data as it flows across different applications. The value of this warehouse of data standardization and consistency is that you the user can be confident that the data you're exchanging with your growers/customers, employees and anyone else you share data with is accurate, standardized and consistent. To take a deeper dive into agX, be sure to check out our e-learning portal.

Editor's note: A sync ID, is essentially a user id or account number. A sync ID is unique to one email address and one agX account.

Using agX - So what can a user do with an agX account?

Within agX, a user can establish a connection with another user/sync ID, resurrect deleted data, be an active administrator of their data and update the profile information associated with your sync ID. Use this link to access the agX platform, account.agxplatform.com.

Adding an agX connection

In the Connections tab, users have the option to add a new connection or manage a current connection. To add a connection, users will need the email associated with the other person’s agX account, fields to share in the Connection, permissions set to Read Only or View/Edit, the user will need to decide if they want to transfer admin rights with the data being shared, and lastly review the connection before it is saved and established. Below is a picture of the steps that will need to be taken to establish a connection.

A common issue you may encounter with establishing a connection is a connection not being accepted and reciprocated in agX. To ensure the seamless exchange and flow of data between sync ID's, the user you are establishing a connection with will need to log into the agX website.

They will need to go to the Connections tab and accept the pending connection you created. They will then need to reciprocate the connection back to you. The above steps will need to be completed to ensure that data will flow correctly from account to account.
