Generating Surface Layers

To begin, navigate to the grower, farm, and field that you will be ordering Surface Layers on, then click the FarmRite tab on the left-hand side of the screen.

Select New Order to place a new FarmRite Order for Surface Layers, note that the field will need to have base layer data, for example, soil sample results tied to the field to be able to place a FarmRite order.

Next, you will select the tasks to order choosing between two surface packages, PPM or lbs/ac. To view individual surface layers within the package, tree down on the selected task by clicking the orange (+).

Within tasks, users can also order Yield Surfaces by selecting the Yield Surface task, this data is based on the Yield Layer of a field for a specified season.

If you are not able to see the correct tasks to order for, the FarmRite team will assign specific tasks for Surface layers to all accounts. The status of placed FarmRite Orders can be viewed within the FarmRite Dashboard and the Yield and Analysis Surfaces are able to be viewed within Maps.

FarmRite: Subfield Ordering

A new feature available in Sirrus Web is the ability to order FarmRite recommendations on smaller parts of a field, for example a Management Zone.

Within a field boundary, you may have the field divided into subfield areas. In FarmRite, you can now place orders that are specific to these subfield areas.

Click the FarmRite icon and select the field you want to place an order for. If the field is broken up into several different zones or multiple polygons, you can click Select Polygons on the right of your screen to generate a FarmRite order specific to certain polygons, rather than ordering for the entire field.

After clicking Select Polygons, the subfield polygons will be displayed, similar to the screen below. Click the desired areas to create a FarmRite subfield grouping and click Done in the top right corner.

Utilizing Surface Layers in Workflow

Surface Layers interpolate results from a soil sample operation and converts them into a user-friendly view across a field. Surface Analysis Layers give a grower a visual to assist in their decisions as to what their fields require to produce the most yield possible for a growing season.

Surface Layers are presented via a variation of colors: red, orange, yellow, light green, and dark green. This color scheme creates a graphic that is easy to navigate what areas of a field need more product or less product applied.

You can also utilize surface layers generated with FarmRite in Sirrus Mobile to create variable rate planting jobs, crop protection recs, soil sample, scout and more!
